Ottawa Indoor Championships

Have you ever wondered how you stack up individually against other dragon boat paddlers? Now is your time to find out in the Indoor Dragon Boat Championships!

Event Details:

This event will feature individuals racing on a KayakPro D1 Ergometre for the fastest times possible. Racers will be projected onto a large screen to show their progress and placement throughout the races. Race results will also be projected immediately following each race.

The event is fast-paced, exciting and provides a great opportunity for rookies and advanced paddlers alike to show their skills and gain new ones.

New for 2020: We will be offering a Paddle Erg Clinic on Saturday, March 7th . Any and all athletes are encouraged to join the clinic to learn new skills, build their technique and gain some practice time prior to race day!

Practice & Clinic Details

Lead by Steve Wilkes (former National Team Athlete, current Alkame coach, and a previous Champion of this event), athletes will have the opportunity to try out the paddle ergs prior to racing. Steve will be on-hand to provide all athletes with an introduction to the paddle ergs, individual coaching, and tips and tricks on how to perform your best. Athletes will have the opportunity to select a 1-hour time frame in which to practice

(maximum 10 athletes per 1-hour session). Clinics will be held at 2:00pm, 3:00pm and 4:00pm.

Registration is done on an individual basis. Each athlete will participate in 1 preliminary heat and 1 championship final. Each athlete will have the opportunity to participate in a team relay which will take place after all preliminary heats; teams are made up of 4 individual paddlers (2 x female, 2 x male of any weight/experience). Paddlers will receive a follow-up email after registration to submit their team name and participants prior to race day.

Please note that some categories may be eliminated and/or combined with other categories dependant on number of overall paddlers*

Medals will be awarded to the top 3 athletes in each individual category, and the top 3 teams in the relay category.
