Scott Murray
President
The founder of Alkame Dragon Boat Services, he is passionate about growing and developing all sports. Most specifically Scott would like to see the sport of dragon boat racing grow and develop locally, nationally and internationally.
Scott has been involved in the sport of dragon boat racing from both a racing and administrative perspective for more than a decade. As an athlete, coach and club President Scott has competed at several provincial, national and international championship races including: Italy, South Africa, Canada, Malaysia & Czech Republic.
Scott’s greatest coaching attribute is that he puts time and effort into getting to know the specific needs of each of his athletes and provides personal and individualized feedback to each athlete in attempt to help them improve.
Yvonne Paradis
Program Director
Yvonne offers a unique and well rounded perspective to the benefits of dragon boat racing through her involvement as a paddler and over 10 years of event management and administration experience.
Chris has worked in the Toronto dragon boat industry for: Pickering Dragon Boat Club, Great White North Communications, Pink Sensations Breast Cancer Survivors, Sunwing Vacations, Miller Time and Mary Ward Collegiate. Chris has coached or competed in Dragon Boat World Championships in Italy, South Africa, Canada & Malaysia.
Andrew Milner
Official/Coach
Andrew is a fully certified IDBF race official. He is recognized as one of the best and most experienced race official in Canada. He has officiated the past two Canadian Championships as well as several regional dragon boat events. Andrew has approximately 20 years of paddling experience, has coached crews of all levels and has competed internationally.
Michael O'Reilly
Official/Coach
Michael is a fully certified IDBF race official. He also competed as a member of the Canadian National Dragon Boat Team in Czech Republic, 2009. Michael has coached crews at all levels including: high school, community, junior, senior and high performance.
Alex Hennig
Coach
Alex has already competed in 3 World Championships (Canada, Australia & Czech Republic), 1 flatwater Canadian Championship (Sherbrooke), completed her level I & II coaching certification and is coaching the Miller Magic Dragon Boat Team for the 3rd season.
Stan Burrows
Coach
Having won 6 medals at the 2007 Club Crew World Championships in Malaysia, Stan has continued to use that experience to help other athletes. He is an extremely good technical paddler and has coached the OPS dragon boat club since 2009.
Aron Nash
Coach
Having a competitive background in both flatwater canoeing and dragon boat racing, Aron was the captain of the 2009 Canadian Junior Open Dragon Boat Team which earned three medals at the World Championships in Czech Republic. Aron has also competed in World Championship competitions in Canada & Australia and is one of the best up and coming dragon boat coaches in Canada.
Brian Garel
Coach
Brian has competed internationally in Canada & Australia. Brian is the head coach of the Peterborough Survivors Abreast and has coached at the high school level.
Ethan Dixon
Coach
Ethan has competed internationally in Canada & Australia. As a paddler, coach and logistical role, Ethan brings an immense amount of dragon boat experience to Alkame.
Scott Polley
Coach
Scott has already competed in two World Championship events (Canada & Czech Republic) and has accumulated five years of dragon boat racing experience even though he is still only 17 years of age. Scott is currently the head coach of the PDBC Pink Sensations BCS Crew.
Katarina Sanchez
Coach
A very outgoing and affable coach, Kat is the founder and head coach of the Mary Ward Collegiate dragon boat team and has coached several community dragon boat teams. She has competed in World Championship competitions in Canada & Australia.
Stan Walton
Coach
Having won 6 medals at the 2007 Club Crew World Championships in Malaysia, Stan has continued to use that experience to help other athletes. Stan has an immense amount of international sport experience including participation at the Olympic and Paralympic games through his professional experience with the City of Toronto.
Braden DeGroot
Coach
Braden is one of Alkame’s most energetic and exciting coaches. He has competed internationally in China, Canada & Czech Republic. He has always received positive commentary on the style and substance of his coaching.
